Your privacy
No account, no server, and your location only when you tap.
Last updated October 2026
Indigene has no accounts and no server of its own. What you save stays in your browser. To answer your questions, your device asks a few public services directly, and only the ones on a fixed list.
Your location
- It’s used only when you tap for it, never in the background.
- You never have to share it: a town, a postal code or picking your region works everywhere.
- When you do, it goes straight from your device to public weather, soil and map services to look up your spot.
What stays on your device
Your saved spots, plant logs, settings and iNaturalist username. That also means only you can keep a copy. See Keeping your spots safe.
Counting visits
Indigene counts page visits, with no cookies and no profile of you. You can turn it off in Settings, and it’s off already if your browser asks sites not to track you.
Built for everyone, children included: no ads, no profile of you, and nothing to sign up for.
